Akoma Unity Center

Excitement is in the air at Akoma Unity Center as we gear up for one of the most anticipated events of the year—the 2nd Annual Cultural Festival hosted by San Bernardino City. Set against the scenic backdrop of Lytle Creek Park, this festival is a vibrant celebration of our city’s rich cultural tapestry. We are thrilled to invite all our Sankofa Scholars and their families to join us for a day filled with excitement, learning, and community spirit.

A Festival of Cultures: The Cultural Festival is a wonderful opportunity to experience the best of what San Bernardino has to offer. From the eclectic array of foods representing local and global cuisines to the stunning performances that showcase our city’s diverse artistic talents, there is something for everyone to enjoy. The festival brings together art, music, and performances, allowing all attendees to immerse themselves in the beauty of our collective heritage.

Activities for Everyone: The festival is designed with families in mind. The Kids and Animal Villages are hubs of activity where children can engage in a variety of crafts, interactive activities, and carnival-style games. There’s even a petting zoo that promises fun for animal lovers of all ages. These villages are perfect for keeping the little ones entertained while they learn and explore in a festive environment.

Exclusive Perks for Akoma Scholars: We are excited to announce that Akoma Unity Center is purchasing wristbands for all scholars attending the field trip, including those performing in our Ballet Folklorico Team and Drum and Dance Team. Participation in these performances is essential for our scholars, and we encourage family and friends to come and support their dedication and talent. Entrance to the festival is completely free, making it accessible to everyone in our community.

Support and Participation: This event is not only a celebration but also a testament to the strength of our community. By participating, you help foster an environment where cultural understanding and appreciation can flourish. We highly encourage all parents and guardians to join in, experience the joy of the festival, and support our scholars.

Get Ready for the Festival: To ensure your scholar’s participation, please sign the permission slips as soon as possible. Permission slips are available online and can also be picked up in person at Akoma Unity Center. Let’s make sure all our scholars have the opportunity to be part of this enriching experience.

The 2nd Annual Cultural Festival at Lytle Creek Park promises to be a day of joy, learning, and community bonding. We look forward to seeing many familiar faces there, supporting our scholars and enjoying the festivities together. It’s a wonderful way to celebrate the diversity and spirit of San Bernardino, and we can’t wait to share this experience with you.
